Applications for 4th Round of Residential Assistance Applications Open

By Selene Raj

In May, the Tamarac City Commission unanimously voted in favor of moving $250,000 from the city’s general fund reserves to a residential assistance program to help residents financially impacted by Covid-19.

Now, in the second week of October, the city is on its fourth round of assisting residents, with the help of a consultant, Civtas, LLC.

Applicants must be Tamarac residents who can document income hardships due to Covid-19 and must belong to households that do not exceed 120 percent of the area median income.

If they qualify, residents can receive up to $5,000 to help with eligible expenses such as mortgage payments, rent, and utilities such as light, water, and natural gas.

Tamarac city staff is still processing the second and third rounds of applications. The fourth round will open up beginning Tuesday, October 13, and be processed on a first-come, first-ready, first-serve basis, and will remain open until funds are expended.
