Expect to see major upgrades to North Nob Hill Road and Southgate Boulevard intersection in Tamarac.
The Mobility Advancement Program (MAP) of Broward County announced plans to begin construction this summer, reconstructing 400 – 550 feet of the roadway in each direction.
Some of these improvements include extending the southbound left-turn lane, adding a northbound right turn lane, reconstruction of the east and west left-turn lanes, milling and resurfacing within the existing project limits, and new drainage structures and pavement and signage markings.
Additional upgrades also include all intersection curb ramps which will significantly improve pedestrian safety crossing areas and signalizations that comply with the Americans with Disabilities Act. The widening of sidewalks at the bus stop location to a minimum of eight feet will also be improved to meet current standards.
Sign improvements also include upgrading the existing traffic signal equipment to mast arm signals that comply with current wind load standards.
The project’s main focus is to ease traffic congestion by reducing intersection wait times for both roadways and creating safer and more efficient travel mobility for the anticipated growth in commuters.
The project has an estimated completion date by the end of winter 2022.
