An intoxicated man caused a traffic crash in Tamarac and tried to walk away from the scene before witnesses stopped him and called the authorities, records show.
Lamont Dorsey, 72, of Tamarac, was under the influence of alcohol when he crashed his car into another vehicle in the 8000 block of Nob Hill Road on Aug. 11 around 5:25 p.m., causing property damage before trying to get away, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
“[Dorsey] was confronted by witnesses and the other driver who prevented him from leaving the scene,” deputies wrote in a summary of the incident.
According to a separate arrest affidavit filed by BSO, Dorsey said “he came from the bar and had too much to drink.”
“[Dorsey] was incoherent and unable to locate his driver’s license,” deputies wrote. “[Dorsey] was unable to stand up.”
When deputies asked Dorsey if he was willing to perform a roadside sobriety test, he declined and told them to contact his lawyers.
Dorsey was charged with driving under the influence and leaving the scene of an accident with damage. He was taken to the Broward Main Jail and released on Aug. 12 on a $500 bond, records show.
