Jake Tannenbaum, a 2023 graduate of J.P. Taravella, is gearing up for an exciting chapter as he officially commits to playing college baseball at Suffolk County Community College in New York.

“It felt great when I committed, knowing I was continuing to play baseball,” Tannebuam said. Also, moving to a new environment is very cool.”

Tannenbaum’s journey in baseball commenced at age 5, playing for the West Boca Panthers travel team for seven years. He further showcased his skills with summer ball teams like Primal 9 and Blackjacks while playing on the varsity baseball team at J.P. Taravella. He knocked in eight runs and recorded two doubles, with the team making another run to the Regional Semifinals.

In college, Tannebbaum feels like he can compete for a starting role right away and hopes to work on his skills behind the plate.

“I’m trying to work on catching more than hitting right now,” Tannenbaum said. “My swing has been feeling a lot better. On the catching side. I need to work on my blocking.”

Suffolk University is coming off a season where they won 13 games and will begin their season on March 4 against Surry Community College in North Carolina.
