J.P. Taravella had an impressive performance in the track and field BCAA Championship on Friday at Dillard High School.
Ty’Quez Jenkins led the boys team to a second-place finish in the triple jump. Wadleigh Valmyr finished four spots back, while Taheim Reid came in 13th.
Akeem Beckford, Scardy Fils, Ali Mustafa, and Elijah Vessels finished fifth in the 4 x 800 relay, with Scardy Fils placing ninth in the 1600 meters and 10th in the 800 meters. Vessels also finished in the top 13 in both events, with Joryton Delien, Jonathan Paret, Nelson Marcelin, and Jason Reid all qualifying in the javelin.
The girls were led by Ajah Arscottt, who placed first in the 400 meters. She also anchored the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relay teams to a second-place finish, along with Damari Sibbles, Qurah Spann Pierre, and Kiana Taylor. Spann Pierre and U’Myri Bain placed in the top five, along with Katelyn Tenn’s six-place finish and two more top-ten results from Sibbles. Cara Dennis, Samia Telfort, Allisa Lee, and Janiva Henry all qualified in the javelin.
