Former J.P. Taravella Pitcher Logan Plasencia Commits to SEC Powerhouse

Former J.P. Taravella pitcher Logan Plasencia announced that he would be playing college baseball at the University of South Carolina following his senior year of high school.

Plasencia posted on Twitter and said, “First and foremost, thank you, God, for blessing me with the opportunity to play at the next level. I would like to thank my parents, my sister, friends, and coaches for making me become the man and player I am today.”

This season, Plasencia will play for TNXL Academy. Previously, pitching for three schools, starting with Elite Squad Baseball as a freshman. He then played for Highlands Christian High School in 10th grade and then for JPT in 11th, where he had his best season.

Plasencia appeared in six games, making four starts and winning three games. He pitched to an ERA of 1.29 and had 36 strikeouts in 21.2 innings.

After he graduates, Plasencia will join a program that has been to the NCAA tournament 33 times. The Gamecocks won the National Championship in 2010 and 2011 and had 11 appearances in the College World Series and six finals competing in the SEC.
