J.P. Taravella Track and Field Teams Win Meet in South Plantation: Recognize Seniors

J.P. Taravella Girls Track and Field Team. {JPT Track}

The J.P. Taravella track and field team continued their extraordinary season, with both the boys and girls taking first place in their last race at South Plantation High School.

T’Quez Jenkins and Scrady Fils both finished in first place, with Jennings doing it in the triple jump and Fils winning the 800 meters. Elijah Vessels and Anthony Duncanson placed second in their races on the track, with Dominic Martinez coming in third. Ray Graham, Akeem Beckford, and Craig Dennis all picked up points, while the Trojans came in third and fourth in their races. In the long jump, Taheim Reid and Wadeligh Valymr finished third and fourth, respectively, while Joseph James came in fourth in the shot put. Akeil Kiff and Joryton Delien also combined for three points, with the relay team also coming in third.

Ajah Arscottt shined for the girls team, winning the 100 and 200 meters. U’Myri Bain won the long jump while Katelyn Tenn, Marriot, Melony Avlarez, and Kiana Taylor secured first in the 4 x 200 relay. Qyrah Spann-Pierre had two second-place finishes, along with Damari Sibbles. The Trojans had finished in second and third in two more relays. Kianna Taylor also came in third in two relay races, while  Sibbles Katelyn Tenn came in third. Caaileen Cenales, Giavanna Lionelli, Cara Dennis, and Janiva Henry all had great days to contribute to the win. JPT will continue its season and prepare for Districts later this month.

The Trojans also honored their seniors Joshua Evans, Darren Gadson, Justin Giles, Ray Graham, Kahmari Isaac, Maleek Lubin, Nelson Marcelin, Jonathan Paret, Ezikel Parrot, Jason Reid, Taheim Reid, Jeffrey Smith, Joshua Stewart, Denardo Thompson, Quentin Touissant, Wadleigh Valmyr and Thorevis Wesley from the boys team and Alissa Lee, Janiva Henry, Cara Dennis, Qyrah Spann-Pierre, Ajah Arscott, and Katelyn Tenn from the girls team.

The Trojans then went on to win the City Championship on April 3.
