J.P. Taravella High School continues its fall season with multiple teams in action, highlighted by the swim team.
The Trojans had the boys finish 12th overall and the girls place 10th. Jayden Davis, Zac Bricher, Zane Samms, and Josh DeSouza came in fifth in their relay race before other teams placed outside the top ten. Davis came in second and fifth in two of his races, and Josh DeSouza finished in ninth in the 400-yard freestyle. Samms also came in 11th in a race, and Zac Bricher finished 14th.
The girls’ team had a relay team that finished sixth in a relay with Grace Weeks, Addison Palumbo, Mariana Montes, and Alejandra Gil-Restrepo. They also had one relay team come in seventh and another place 14th. Rawani Ceballos had her best result in the 100-yard freestyle, finishing eighth and 11th in the 50-yard freestyle.
The football team lost to Everglades High School 50-8 and is now 0-5 this season. Despite the loss, the Trojans scored their fifth touchdown of the season and will have a week off before facing Cypress Bay High School on Thursday, October 10 at 7 p.m. The Lightning are 2-2 this year and won 43-3 against the Trojans last year.
JPT fell to 5-7 in volleyball after losing against Pembroke Pines Charter. The Trojans previously had wins this year against Dillard, Blanche Ely, Plantation, Stranahan, and Coconut Creek High School. They will play Cooper City High School in their next match on Friday, October 4, at 4:30 p.m. The Cowboys are 8-10 this year after winning 17 games last year.
Nico Levy recorded a 52 in his last match for the golf team against Monarch and Deerfield Beach High School at Deer Creek Golf Course. The Trojans will play their next game on Monday, October 21, at the Colony West Golf Course.
