Authorities this week doubled the monetary reward for information leading to the arrest of the killer who murdered a mother and daughter in North Lauderdale in 2017.
Temeco Williams, 48, and Jada Allen, 15, were found shot to death inside their home at 6812 Doral Street while two other children were inside on Jan. 28, 2017.
Broward Sheriff’s Office homicide detectives and family members believe the killer probably knew the victims and was familiar with the layout of their home.
There was no sign of forced entry, detectives said, and the other children inside the home were unharmed.
The Broward Crime Stoppers reward for information leading to the killer’s capture in the case was doubled Tuesday, from $5,000 to up to $10,000.
“This was a very cold-blooded crime,” said BSO Cold Case Detective Zack Scott. “This was not a robbery; at least, it didn’t have any of the characteristics that would make you think it was. They were asleep in their bed, and someone chose to go into someone else’s home, knowing these people were there, kill two of those people, and then leave.”
Williams’ sister, Nicole, said both victims were asleep at the time of their murders.
“Nobody deserves what my sister and my niece got,” she said. “And, you know, yeah, some people are in the wrong place at the wrong time. But they were in their home. They were asleep. Who could hurt you at that time in that place? So why would you want to go into their home and violate them and violate our family?”
Detectives hope the increased reward will bring to light long-sought information that will lead to an arrest in the case.
The homicides were the subject of an episode in BSO’s “Open and Unsolved” cold case video series, which can be viewed here.
Anyone with information about the killings is asked to call Scott at 954-321-4214. Those wishing to remain anonymous can call Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477), submit a tip online at browardcrimestoppers.org, or dial **TIPS (8477) from any cell phone in the U.S.
