Lauderhill Police Department Launches Recruitment Drive for New Officers

The Lauderhill Police Department has announced it has launched a recruiting drive in search of aspiring law enforcement officers as the city seeks to increase its police personnel. 

According to the job description, the perks of being a Lauderhill officer include competitive salaries, attractive benefits, and avenues for professional development.

Compensation packages are tailored to both certified officers and police cadets, with officers’ salary ranges spanning from $66,915 to $103,792 annually, with more seasoned officers enjoying higher starting rates. 

Certified officers can also qualify for a signing bonus, potentially receiving up to $3,000 upon hire. The department also provides a Deferred Retirement Option Plan that extends over five years and a 20-year pension plan.

Officers receive full medical benefits, including vision and dental coverage, to ensure comprehensive health support while serving the city. Vacation and sick leave accrue based on years of service.

Candidates must submit a comprehensive application alongside various required documents and certifications as part of the application process. The process entails rigorous background checks, interviews, polygraph examinations, psychological evaluations, and medical screenings.

For those under the minimum age requirement of 19 years old, the police department says future applicants may increase their chances of becoming a law enforcement officer by focusing on higher education, developing relevant skills, engage in community service, maintain a responsible and lawful lifestyle, drive safely, abstain from drugs and alcohol, and prioritize physical fitness for improved performance and health.
