A Lauderhill eatery was recently ordered closed after a routine inspection discovered ten violations, including evidence of a rodent infestation.
On September 27, Hazel’s Brunch Bar, located at 2992 Northwest 55th Avenue, was ordered to shut down after a routine health inspection by the Florida Department of Business and Professional Regulation uncovered serious violations.
Among the most concerning violations were signs of rodent activity within the restaurant, including rodent droppings found in several areas, including behind a reach-in freezer chest, in a kitchen cabinet, behind a steam well, and near a mop sink.
Another serious violation discovered by inspectors was the misuse of a hand wash sink, specifically sinks used for purposes other than hand washing, including filling large water containers.
In addition, the inspection report noted a build-up of grease and debris on the kitchen floor, particularly near the fryer, which the inspection mentioned could attract pests and pose slip and fall hazards.
The report also revealed that raw animal food was stored directly above ready-to-eat food in the bottom portion, without a complete physical barrier to prevent cross-contamination.
As a result of these multiple violations, Hazel’s Brunch Bar was ordered to cease operations temporarily until these issues are resolved and the establishment is deemed safe for customers and staff. The management has been directed to take corrective action and undergo a reinspection before reopening.
