Easy Come E-Z-GO: Law Enforcement Seeks Public Help in Identifying Golf Cart Thief

By Ryan Yousefi

Detectives from the Broward Sheriff’s Office North Lauderdale District are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a man who allegedly stole an E-Z-GO golf cart from a North Lauderdale business.

According to law enforcement, the theft occurred on August 11 near the 1500 block of South State Road 7.

A BSO press release obtained by Tamarac Talk indicates surveillance footage from the scene shows the thief wearing a distinctive light-colored NASA shirt and dark NASA shorts.

Detectives say that the man casually strolled onto the business’ property and approached the E-Z-GO golf cart before maneuvering it into reverse, crashing it into a nearby bush, and shifting it into the drive to make a speedy getaway.

As the thief flees the scene, the video captures the man crashing the stolen golf cart into the exit gate of the business, causing minor damage to both the cart and the gate. Despite the damage and witnesses, the man continued his theft and sped off.

Six days after the brazen theft, detectives discovered the stolen golf cart abandoned in Coconut Creek, but they have still yet to identify the thief responsible.

Members of the public who have relevant information about the suspect’s identity or whereabouts are encouraged to contact Detective Almodovar directly at 954-722-5803.

Anonymous tips can be sent through the SaferWatch app to Broward Crime Stoppers at 954-493-TIPS (8477) or submitted online at browardcrimestoppers.org or by dialing **TIPS (8477) from any cellphone within the United States.
