Lucky Scoops Ice Cream celebrated its grand opening with a ribbon cutting and party on the afternoon of June 18.
The event was hosted by the Tamarac North Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce, with members of the city commission in attendance.
Frederic and Shaira Polynice, the owners of Lucky Scoops, were pleased to see community leaders offer support and taste some of the ice cream.
“We had never been in the food business, but we had a vision for this restaurant. It took us longer than we expected to open, but we did it,” said Frederic.
There was a need for an ice cream restaurant in Tamarac, and it is located near schools, according to Shaira, a former teacher.
Mayor Michelle J. Gomez said, “This is a good business for Tamarac, and I believe it will succeed.”
Commissioner Marlon Bolton praised the owners of Lucky Scoops and said he would pay for a dish of ice cream for everyone out of his own money. Most of the people accepted his offer and chose from one of the 32 flavors offered.
Chamber Executive Director Peter Mason was pleased and said, “A Tamarac resident, a Tamarac family, this is what we want to see in our community.“
Lucky Scoops is located at 8197 Northwest University Drive, Suite 4.
Business hours are Monday through Thursday, 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., Friday and Saturday, 12:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m., and Sunday, 12:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
