A man died from his injuries following a two-vehicle crash in Tamarac on Aug. 19, according to the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
Traffic homicide detectives said the surviving driver, Jacob Lederman, 30, of North Lauderdale, was driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla east in the far-right thru lane of McNab Road, approaching the intersection of Northwest 93rd Avenue, around 5 p.m.
At the same time, the driver of a 2001 Toyota Tacoma—whose name was not made public—drove west on McNab Road before attempting to turn south onto Northwest 93rd Avenue, detectives said.
When the Tacoma tried to cross the eastbound lanes, it was struck by the Corolla, according to BSO.
Detectives said that the impact sent the Corolla south, where it crashed into a concrete sign for the Lime Bay community. The Tacoma rotated counterclockwise and came to a final stop in the eastbound lanes.
Tamarac Fire Rescue responded to the crash scene and rushed both drivers to nearby hospitals. Lederman was treated for minor injuries and later released, according to BSO.
On Aug. 20, the Broward County Medical Examiner’s Office notified the BSO Traffic Homicide Unit that the driver of the Tacoma died on Aug. 19.
Mechanical malfunction is not currently considered to be a factor in the crash, according to BSO. The investigation is ongoing.
