Man Snatches Purse From Baby’s Stroller in Tamarac

Broward Sheriff’s Office Robbery Unit detectives are asking for the public’s help in finding the man who snatched a mother’s purse from her baby’s stroller in Tamarac.

BSO detectives responded to the Jan. 5 robbery call at a beauty store near the 3100 block of West Commercial Boulevard at 2:51 p.m., deputies said.

According to investigators, a mother was waiting in line to pay for a hair procedure—with her baby in a stroller and her purse resting atop the stroller—when an unidentified man entered the store.

He looked around, made his way toward the mother, cut in front of her, then suddenly grabbed her purse off the stroller with her child inside, rocking the stroller in the process, according to the sheriff’s office.

The mother held on to the stroller so that her child would not fall over, deputies said. The thief then fled the store with the purse.

Detectives said the mother and two witnesses ran after the man but could not find him.

Investigators describe the thief as an adult male, possibly 20 to 30 years old, weighing approximately 160 pounds and wearing his hair in a ponytail, with no facial hair. He was wearing a gray or blue shirt with jean shorts at the time of the robbery, deputies said.
