A 47-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in Tamarac after he stabbed a man for accidentally bumping into him at the entrance of a CVS, court records show.
Ray Clarke, of Lauderdale Lakes, took exception when the victim “collided by mistake” with Clarke as the victim entered the CVS at 3915 W. Commercial Blvd. to buy a drink on Oct. 5, according to an arrest affidavit filed by the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
“[Clarke] reacted aggressively and immediately asked him “What you want to do?” and got into a fighting stance,” deputies wrote.
Clarke then pulled a knife and stabbed the victim in his left arm, the affidavit states.
In fear for his life, the victim fled the store while Clarke tried to stab him again, deputies said.
When Clarke went to his white Toyota Camry and pulled a Smith & Wesson .380 handgun from the trunk, the victim, now bleeding profusely, ran inside the store and asked for help, according to BSO.
CVS employees closed the store to prevent Clarke from entering, then called 911.
Clarke and his victim, according to BSO, had never met nor seen each other before the incident.
Clarke told deputies that he realized the victim was not fighting back after he retrieved his gun. So he stopped what he was doing and waited until deputies arrived.
He is being held without bond at the Broward Main Jail.
The victim was treated for his injuries at Broward General Hospital.
