{City of Tamarac}
Dear Neighbors,
Welcome to March! As we transition into Spring, we have plenty of great events planned to help you enjoy the last bit of cooler winter weather.
Thank you to the 400+ two-legged guests who came out with their furbabies to support the 2025 Furever Friends Pet Expo! Commissioner Wright and I are grateful to the eight pet rescues and companion organizations that were on-site along with the American Red Cross, who conducted Pet CPR sessions and Tamarac Fire Rescue who conducted hands-only CPR, and over 40 vendors to help keep our furbabies and people healthy, happy and in-style! We will share the 2026 Pet Expo date as soon as it is available. In the interim, if you want to adopt or need pet care before then, we are happy to connect you to these amazing rescues and vendors. More info and photos to come.
Our March 5th Harmonic Healing event is already at capacity! We’re excited people are so interested in this unique program! Thanks to all who have participated. Due to the amount of responses, we are working on scheduling another session and will share more information when it becomes available.
This year’s Groove on the Grass Concert in the Park series starts on Friday, March 7th as we heat up the night with the Stevie Wonder Tribute band “Hotter Than July”. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy a wonderful free evening of music and food trucks under the stars, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. at Caporella Park, 5200 Prospect Road.
It’s almost time to “Spring forward” again! Daylight Savings Time starts on Sunday, March 9th. If your clocks do not automatically adjust, please remember to set them forward one hour before you go to sleep Saturday night, March 8th and get ready to enjoy a brighter start to your mornings after the time change!
The Movies in the Park series also returns this month on Friday, March 14th at Tamarac Park, 7501 N. University Drive. The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with kids’ activities including face painting, inflatables, and more, and then at 8:00 p.m. everyone settles in to watch “Despicable Me 4”. Please note: blankets, chairs and coolers are allowed, but pets are not permitted at this event.
Another option for the evening of the 14th will be this month’s free Move with the Mayor session, Body Sculpting at 6:00 p.m. at the Tamarac Community Center, 8601 W. Commercial Blvd. And mark your calendar now for next month’s fun, free Zumba session on Monday, April 7th at 6:30 p.m. at Tamarac Park!
Please note: The March 10th Workshop has been rescheduled to Monday, March 24th. The March 12th Commission Meeting has been cancelled. The March 26th Commission Meeting will start at 7:00 p.m. for this month.
I hope you will join me as I deliver the 2025 State of the City Address at 7:00 p.m. before the regular Commission Meeting on Wednesday, March 26th at City Hall, 7525 NW 88th Avenue.
