A New York City woman was arrested Wednesday for her involvement in the murder of a Tamarac woman, authorities said.
Sakiyna Thompson, 28, of the Springfield Gardens neighborhood in Queens, played a role in the killing of the victim, according to the Broward Sheriff’s office. Investigators did not provide any details about Thompson’s alleged role in the homicide or publicly identify the murder victim.
The victim was discovered on July 13, found unresponsive by a person inside a home near the 9300 block of Northwest 57th Street in Tamarac, according to BSO.
Tamarac district deputies and Tamarac Fire Rescue responded to the scene, located the woman, and determined she was dead.
BSO Homicide Unit and Crime Scene Unit detectives responded to the scene, along with officials from the Broward Medical Examiner’s Office.
During their investigation, BSO detectives determined Thompson played a part in the woman’s murder and obtained a warrant for her arrest on July 25.
Thompson was taken into custody by New York Police Department officers on Aug. 3. She was being held without bond on Rikers Island Thursday.
She is expected to be extradited to Broward County to face one charge of first-degree murder, according to BSO.
