Mayor Gomez to Panel at Temple Beth Orr Racism Roundtable

By Selene Raj

In the months following the murder of George Floyd, racism has been at the center of discussion around the country—and now, it will be at the center of a temple’s roundtable discussion, featuring Tamarac Mayor Michelle Gomez.

Temple Beth Orr, located in Coral Springs, is hosting the roundtable discussion: Viewpoints on Racism.

Including Mayor Gomez, the discussion will feature four panelists: Melanie Geddes, CEO of LifeNet 4 Families, Peter Weinstein, a retired Broward County Judge, and Deputy David Farrugia, from the Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office, and Sergeant A.J. King from the Coral Springs Police Department.

The city shared the event on Facebook and noted that each panelists’ personal views on racism would be discussed, but no other specific topics were mentioned.

The event will take place virtually, on Monday, July 20, from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

The discussion can be joined via Zoom through this link or by entering the meeting ID number: 984 2864 4819.
