Harlen Antwan Zorrilla {BSO}
A man was arrested after authorities say he threatened to shoot a Quince Supermarket employee who attempted to stop him from shoplifting pork bellies.
According to a Broward County Sheriff’s arrest report, Harlen Antwan Zorrilla, 44, of Sunrise, was taken into custody on July 16 following an incident that occurred on the evening of June 8 at Quince Supermarket, located at 6820 North University Drive in Tamarac.
Surveillance footage reviewed by investigators reportedly showed Zorrilla entering the store, concealing four packets of pork bellies worth approximately $40 in a bag, and attempting to exit the store without paying.
A store employee confronted Zorrilla near the exit. In response, Zorrilla allegedly became aggressive, telling the employee, “Stop being a rat and mind your business.” The altercation escalated when Zorrilla reportedly threatened the employee, claiming he had a gun and would shoot him.
Surveillance video captured Zorrilla reaching into his bag in a way that was “consistent with retrieving a weapon,” although no firearm was ever visibly seen.
Zorrilla ultimately returned the items to a store shelf but continued to pursue the employee inside the store while making additional verbal threats before fleeing the scene.
An investigation linked Zorrilla to the incident through a review of surveillance footage by both his probation officer and a family member, who each identified him as the individual in question.
On July 16, detectives located Zorrilla at his home in Sunrise. He was arrested and transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he was held on a $10,000 bond.
