Put the bird in the oven and lace up your running shoes on Thanksgiving morning for the 40th Annual Tamarac Turkey Trot 5K.
Donations added to entry fees benefit the Parks and Recreation Foundation of Tamarac, which funds youth program grants, scholarships, park equipment, and recreation events.
Starting promptly at 7.30 a.m., runners of all ages can participate, and the first 1,500 people to register will receive a commemorative t-shirt. All finishers with a race bib receive a participation medal.
Trophies are awarded to the first three male and female finishers overall. Age group winners are awarded for the first, second, and third place.
After the race, stick around for the post-race awards with refreshments and music.
Entry fees range from $20 (until October 15) to $50 the day of the event. Last-minute signees must pay in cash only and enter their names by 7 a.m. on race day.
Registration is open on www.runsignup.com and closes at noon on November 24.
