For J.P. Taravella High School senior Jordan Edwy, dreams do come true.
He announced officially committing to playing baseball at Keiser University after his senior year,
The journey, though, has not always been the easiest. Edwy is known as a terrific defensive catcher but never hit consistently. He felt that would hold him back from making it to the next step.
However, after researching potential schools, he came across Keiser University in West Palm Beach and submitted a video. The next day, Edwy received a phone call from Coach Brook Fordyce. Keiser needed a strong defender behind the plate, and Fordyce decided to commit.
“It means a lot for me to finally commit because I never thought this day would come,” said Edwy. “Honestly, I had my ups and downs, and I can’t thank my family enough for being supportive since day one.”
Edwy started playing baseball at five, then competed in travel ball four years later for the Plantation Stars, coached by Tommy Butt.
He began on the JV team in ninth grade and caught bullpen sessions from the varsity pitchers. Edwy then started his sophomore year before the season was shut down due to COVID:19 and has played two seasons on the varsity baseball team with seven at-bats and a hit and two runs scored.
Following this season, Edwy will join a program at Keiser that finished 2021 with a 37-18. Before that, he will hope to help JPT baseball make another run postseason run in 2022.
