A Lauderhill man was arrested and charged with domestic battery and child abuse following an incident where he was stopped from assaulting a mother and daughter by his son, who intervened by stabbing him.
Revo Hannibald, 44, of Lauderhill, was arrested on January 11 after a violent physical altercation involving his family, including two children, that only ceased when one of the children stabbed him.
According to the Broward County Sheriff’s Office report, the incident occurred in the family’s home two days before Hannibald was taken into custody.
The verbal dispute between Hannibal and his wife escalated into a physical confrontation in the bathroom. The victim told deputies Hannibald assaulted her, punching her numerous times all over her body until she fell, leading to her striking her head against the sink and bathtub.
During the altercation, their juvenile daughter intervened, attempting to protect her mother, but also became a victim of Hannibald’s aggression, suffering blows to her ribs and arms.
The couple’s son, witnessing the attack, told deputies that he tried to restrain his father but was unsuccessful, and in a desperate move to protect his mother and sister, armed himself with a kitchen knife and stabbed his father, halting the attack.
The son told detectives the knife broke as he stabbed his father.
Both mother and daughter sustained injuries, with the mother suffering serious bodily harm, including major swelling and lacerations to her head and face. They were transported to Broward General Health by Lauderhill Fire Rescue for comprehensive evaluation and testing.
The report indicates the mother’s face was so swollen, and she was in so much pain she was not able to describe in a great deal the incident.
Following the incident, Hannibald fled the scene but later contacted 911 to report the incident. Lauderhill Police and BSO Tamarac responded and took him into custody.
After receiving medical treatment for his injuries, Hannibald was taken to the police department for interrogation, where he admitted to assaulting his wife and pushing his daughter, claiming self-defense.
Hannibald was transported to the Broward County Main Jail, where he remains.
