Several Tamarac Businesses Receive Complaints for Not Following COVID-19 Precautions

By Ryan Yousefi

Several Tamarac businesses have been reported for not following precautions put in place by the Center for Disease Control in the wake of the Coronavirus outbreak.

As of July 3, there have been 32 complaints ranging from businesses that are disobeying orders to close, to those not following proper sanitation standards.

The data from Broward County breaks down the 32 complaints filed into three categories; Pending Inspection (3), Resolved (5), and a Warning Citation Issued (24).

Of the 32 citations issued, 11 stems from businesses that were open after being ordered closed. Eight of the 11 warnings were issued to Trapeze Night Club located at 5213 FL-7 in Tamarac.

Records indicate that on one day, June 12, two warning citations were issued to Trapeze Night Club. One anonymous tipster that lives near the club filed a complaint there were over 300 people inside the establishment.

Other complaints about Trapeze Night Club ranged from seeing on the businesses website they planned to open to those who witnessed they were not social distancing or wearing masks.

Oasis Pub at 3224 West Commercial Boulevard was also cited two times for being open after a ban on bars was mandated. On both June 16 and June 26, complaints were filed by tipsters, both resulting in a warning citation.

A complaint was also filed against the Dollar Tree located at 4191 West Commercial Boulevard. According to the complaint, cashiers and store clerks were either not wearing masks at all, or not covering their nose.

The complainant reported a cashier, who did not have a mask covering their entire face, coughing and having a runny nose. A citation was issued for the incidents.

Also, receiving a warning citation was the McDonald’s located at 8375 North Pine Island Road. There, owners were cited for employees who were not wearing gloves, and others that were observed wearing masks below their noses. They also were given a warning for improper sanitation procedures.

If you believe a business is not complying with emergency orders or CDC guidelines, you can submit a complaint to the City of Tamarac online form or call the Business Hotline 954-344-5772.
