Goodwill celebrated the grand opening of its new store in Tamarac on March 10.
David Landsberg, CEO of Goodwill Industries of South Florida, thanked Tamarac for welcoming the new 15,000-square-foot store, the first to open in South Florida in nine years. He said the company chose the plaza based on community needs and is glad to be near Publix.
“This is an amazing place to locate a Goodwill store, and this location will create 25 to 35 jobs. We offer good prices to the community, and many people donate clothing to us. We are keeping clothing out of the landfills,” said Landsberg.
Many who work at Goodwill have disabilities and benefit from job opportunities. “Many of our employees are considered disabled by the federal government, and we give them an opportunity to work,” said Landsberg.
Chief Marketing Officer Karen Lithgow said Goodwill offers high-quality clothing and other items for very low prices. When clothing is donated, it must be stain-free and undamaged, or it cannot be sold. She pointed to a pair of pants that would cost around $100 new and was offered in good condition at Goodwill for $7.

“Some customers need lower prices, and others enjoy hunting for fashionable items in our stores,” said Lithgow.
Mayor Michelle J. Gomez welcomed the store, saying, “This place looks amazing. Tamarac will have the best Goodwill store in South Florida. People will want to shop here.”
Commissioner Morey Wright said, “This store will be good for the community and create jobs.”
Goodwill is located at 5837 North University Drive. Business hours are Monday to Saturday, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
