A blood drive is being held in one Tamarac community, and despite the pandemic, the organizer is hoping for a high turnout.
Westwood 24’s newly elected board member, Mary Pat Barbini, would like to give back to people in need and wants the local community to be seen for that.
Barbini hopes to encourage young people to donate plasma and earn community service hours by spreading awareness. Donors are asked to tell a neighbor, bring a friend, or share the event on social media.
Incentives for donations include a free St Patrick’s Day t-shirt and a $10 gift card.
There will also be wellness checkups, blood pressure testing, COVID-19 antibody tests, temperature, iron count, pulse, and cholesterol screenings. Participants are required to observe COVID-19 precaution by maintaining social distancing and wearing a face mask.
The event will be held on Saturday, March 13, 2021, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Westwood 24 community clubhouse located at 8207 NW 107th Avenue.
