There were 91,539 COVID-19 tests conducted in the State of Florida, on January 28, and out of those, 16,698 came back positive.
Data from the past 24 hours reveals the lowest amount of COVID-19 tests conducted in a single day so far this year.
Although there was a reduction in tests across the state, the positivity rate, and the number of overall cases, did not follow. For January 28, the positivity rate was 18.24-percent, a rate that is far-and-away the highest Florida has seen this year. As a comparison, the positivity rate the day prior was just 9.60-percent.
In Tamarac, there were 4,494 positive COVID-19 cases — an increase of 113 positive cases since January 28.
Statewide in Florida, there have been 1,698,570 positive cases to date. The average age to contract the virus in Broward County on January 28 was 40-years-old.
Since the pandemic began, there have been 26,254 deaths to date in Florida and a total of 71,864 patients hospitalized due to the virus.
