Data released by the Florida Department of Health on February 15 show 3,490,648 – or 11.59 percent of Floridians have received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccination. Broward County has administered a total of 313,322 doses of the vaccine, and 109,872 people are now totally vaccinated.
In COVID-19 cases, 134,136 COVID-19 tests were conducted on February 16. Out of those, 11,291 came back positive. Of the positive test results, 7,253 were that of Floridians, finding out they had tested positive for the first time.
While testing and cases rose, the positivity rate rose to 8.42-percent, a steady increase compared to the numbers reported last week. Data shows of the total positivity rate, 6.42-percent of Floridians tested on February 16 were finding out for the first time they had tested positive for COVID-19.
Since the pandemic began, Tamarac has reported 4,959 total positive COVID-19 cases — an increase of 54 positive cases since February 15.
Statewide in Florida, there have been 1,844,627 positive COVID-19 cases to date. The average age to contract COVID-19 in Broward County on February 16 was 40-years-old. For months, the average Floridian to test positive for COVID-19 has hovered between 39 and 42-years-old.
Since the pandemic began, 76,825 Floridians have been hospitalized due to complications of COVID-19, and 29,311 have passed away. Of the total deaths in Florida, 2,283 have occurred in Broward County, an increase of 15 new deaths since February 15.
