Incidents
Aggravated Battery
A man was arrested after deputies investigated a physical altercation involving a male and female in Tamarac on May 5. Deputies determined the man battered the woman and transported him to the Broward Main Jail.
Retail Theft
A suspect was arrested after allegedly shoplifting approximately $91 worth of merchandise from Publix at 4121 W. Commercial Blvd. on May 5.
Deputies said a suspect stole approximately $445 worth of uncooked steak from Publix at 8245 N. Pine Island Rd. on May 5. Surveillance video and receipts were collected as evidence.
A suspect allegedly stole two bottles of shampoo valued at about $18 from CVS at 3914 W. Commercial Blvd. on May 8 before fleeing on foot.
Two pairs of shoes valued at approximately $140 were reported stolen from TJ Maxx at 4197 W. Commercial Blvd. on May 8.
Fraud and Financial Crimes
A Tamarac woman reported that three businesses fraudulently withdrew approximately $605 from her bank account between November 2025 and April 2026.
A Tamarac resident reported that stolen checks totaling $20,321 were fraudulently deposited into a Chase bank account after being taken from her mailbox.
A woman reported that an unknown person used her identity to open two fraudulent credit card accounts in March.
Threats and Assaults
A man reported receiving threats from another individual on May 5.
A woman reported an employee intentionally struck her with a door on May 8. The employee reportedly received disciplinary action.
Deputies responded to a battery investigation May 9 after witnesses reported a woman was punched by a man. The victim was heavily intoxicated and later Baker Acted after making suicidal statements, according to deputies.
Drug Arrest
Deputies responding to a fight call on May 6 arrested a suspect after a foot pursuit. Deputies said the suspect possessed 23.2 grams of marijuana and was charged with resisting without violence and drug offenses.
Death Investigations
Deputies responded to a medical emergency involving a 64-year-old woman who was pronounced dead on May 5. Homicide detectives and crime scene investigators responded.
A woman was found deceased May 6 in what deputies said appeared to be a natural death related to health conditions.
Deputies also investigated the death of a Tamarac man May 6 after he was found deceased in his bedroom during a routine check. Authorities said the death appeared natural.
On May 7, Tamarac Fire Rescue pronounced a man dead after deputies responded to a cardiac arrest call. Deputies reported no signs of foul play.
Baker Acts
A woman was Baker Acted after texting her mother suicidal statements on May 5.
A woman was Baker Acted and transported to Florida Behavioral Center on May 9.
A man who allegedly attempted suicide by overdosing on pills was Baker Acted May 10 after Narcan was administered. Deputies also secured a firearm belonging to the subject.
Animal Abuse Investigation
Deputies responded to an animal abuse call involving three dogs on May 8. Animal control opened an investigation.
Arrests
Bonnie Machata, 61, was arrested on a warrant May 5.
Craig Frazier, 23, was arrested May 5 on a charge of aggravated battery involving a pregnant victim.
Jacquelen Beard, 35, was arrested May 5 on a petit theft charge.
A 38-year-old man was arrested May 5 on a domestic violence assault charge.
A 42-year-old woman was arrested May 5 on a domestic violence battery charge.
Meaghan Hernandez, 26, was arrested May 6 on a drug possession charge.
Micheal Adwar, 21, was arrested May 8 on a theft charge.
Shawniel Smith, 36, was arrested May 8 on charges involving criminal use of personal identification.
Ali Exalien, 32, was arrested May 8 on a domestic violence battery charge.
Wael Ghali, 53, was arrested May 8 on a battery charge.
A 23-year-old woman was arrested May 10 on a dating violence battery charge.
A 25-year-old man was arrested May 11 on a domestic violence battery charge.
