Origins Café opened in Tamarac on October 5.
The new café and micro-roastery will serve Jamaica Blue Mountain Coffee and will also offer coffee from Africa, Asia, and South America, according to owner David Levy.
“We will offer freshly roasted Jamaican Blue Mountain Coffee, which is some of the world’s best coffee and is grown at 5,000 feet above sea level in the mountains. We also offer espresso drinks, fruit drinks, and pastries,” said Levy.
Levy has imported and distributed coffee from Jamaica for about 17 years and looks forward to taking the next step in his journey by opening a coffee shop. He wants to teach people about high-quality coffee and the farmers who grow Blue Mountain Coffee beans.
He wants Origins Café to be a comfortable place for community members to enjoy a cup of coffee and a pastry. “We have a small, intimate place that is very pleasant. It will be a place for people to have meetings. I also plan to do coffee tastings here,” said Levy.
Tamarac has been very helpful to Levy, and he credits the city’s leadership with helping him establish his business. “They have been very supportive of this business, and I am looking forward to serving good coffee to the community,” he said.
Origins Café is located at 6805 West Commercial Boulevard. Business hours are 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday.
