Tamarac Crime Update: Felon Threatened Victim With Gun Inside Gated Community

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime and arrests through August 23, 2021.

Aggravated Assault

N. Belfort Cir.

On Aug. 17, the victim was threatened by a person with a firearm. The person is a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, who entered a gated community without permission or knowledge of the victim.

Aggravated Battery

NW 82nd Ave.

On Aug. 17, a 23-year-old male was the victim of aggravated battery with a kitchen knife, during a confrontation with a suspect over drug use.

Auto Theft

NW 61st St.

On Aug. 18, unknown subject(s) stole a 2018 Honda Civic by unknown means. Affidavit signed. The vehicle is unable to be tracked.

Sands Point Blvd.

On Aug. 21, a 35-year-old female was the victim of auto theft. She reported her 2013 black Infinity JX 35 stolen by an unknown suspect(s).

Criminal Mischief

Commercial Blvd.

On Aug. 17, an unknown subject used unknown tools to damage an ATM machine’s main screen and a cooling fan.

Domestic Disturbance

S. Colony Cir.

On Aug. 22, a caller said she and a man had been arguing over a dog that had been purchased for her. The man wanted the dog back, and after not being able to get the dog he attempted to take his two-year-old son and return to New Orleans.

Elderly Exploitation

On Aug. 18, a case of elderly exploitation in Tamarac resulted in an estimated loss of $1,000.

Robbery

NW 31st Ave.

On Aug. 18, a 67-year-old female was struck in the face and her purse stolen from her person outside her car in a parking lot. Unknown suspect. Tot. Est. Loss: $620.

Suspicious Incident

NW 58th Ave.

On Aug. 18, the subject reported he accidentally shot himself with his handgun in the parking lot when it fell out of his pants. Single gunshot wound above knee/hamstring area of the right leg. No casing or firearm was found. BSO Violent Crimes Unit responded to the scene.

Theft

Commercial Blvd.

On Aug. 17, an unknown male entered a grocery store and put multiple deodorant sticks inside a bag. The unknown male then bypassed all points of sale, leaving the grocery store with the merchandise. Tot. Est. Loss: $258.

Arrests

Andrew Jordan, 58, was arrested on charges of aggravated battery causing bodily harm on NW 82nd Ave on Aug. 17.

An unidentified 22-year-old male was arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault With a Deadly Weapon-Domestic Violence on N Belfort Cir on Aug. 17.

An unidentified 54-year-old male was arrested on charges of Stalking Domestic Violence on Sands Point Blvd on Aug. 17.

An unidentified 49-year-old male was arrested on charges of Stalking Domestic Violence on NW 48th Ter on Aug. 18.

Powell, Markevious Anthony, 33, was arrested on charges of Failure to Appear on W Commercial Blvd on Aug. 19.

Joseph, Jarod Matthew, 21, was arrested on charges of Robbery on W Commercial Blvd on Aug. 22.
