Crime Update: 3 Tamarac Victims Randomly Sprayed with Mace

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime and arrests through June 7, 2021.

Battery

NW 54th St

On June 1, police met with a caller who said she was battered by one of the homeowners down the block from her home. Police made contact with all parties involved and heard conflicting stories from both parties and their witnesses. Misdemeanor case filing instructions were given to both parties.

NW 57th St

On June 3, a victim reported having a verbal argument with an unknown man who physically battered him by pushing/punching him toward the ground and then punching him while on the ground.

NW 96th Ave

On June 2, a female victim advised that while out for a walk, a dark-colored vehicle with a young male in the passenger seat pulled up and sprayed her in the face with mace. The vehicle fled westbound on NW 81st St.

NW 98th Ave

On June 3, a victim advised that while out for a walk, a black mid-sized SUV with a young male in the driver’s seat pulled up and sprayed him in the mouth and arm with mace. The vehicle fled eastbound on Southgate Blvd. The day before, the victim`s younger brother was involved in a similar incident but did not report it to the police. This was the second reported mace incident in two days involving a similar vehicle and suspects near each other.

Burglary Residence

NW 48th Ter

On June 3, a victim reported that his black Royce Union bicycle was taken off the patio at his residence. Tot. Est. Loss: $500.

Driving Under the Influence

Southampton Ter

On June 3, a female driver crashed her vehicle into a building and then through a fence. She was suspected to be under the influence and refused to submit to tests. She was charged and transported to jail.

Grand Theft

W Commercial Blvd

On June 3, a person reported the theft of their Ridgid SeeSnake camera. Tot. Est. loss: $10,000.

Information

7002 NW 95th Ter

On June 1, a Realtor flagged down police about possible squatters. An investigation revealed two females fraudulently moved in on 05/30/2021. They were given an opportunity to get their things and get out.

Pine Island Rd

On June 3, a person in an auto garage reported finding a tracking device on their vehicle during a routine servicing. The person said they had no idea who may have put it there, other than a possible ex-boyfriend.

Sands Point Blvd

On June 4, a play fight ensued between two brothers. A police investigation revealed a crime did not occur.

NW 49th St

On June 4, a Waste Management garbage truck was seen on the security video surveillance camera picking up a dumpster and backing up, hitting a building’s water main.

Commercial Blvd

On June 6, deputies met with reporting persons who advised that a possible homeless female had thrown a child into the dumpster behind a Walgreens. The entire area was checked, and all dumpsters in the immediate area came up negative for any child inside a dumpster.

Missing Person

NW 60th St

On June 2, a caller said her husband hadn`t returned or gone to work in two days. He was entered into the system as missing. A police officer later saw him driving, made contact with him, and determined he was OK.

Robbery by Sudden Snatching

Treehouse Ln

On June 5, the victim advised that he met with a male suspect to sell him a silver MacBook Air, from 2011, for $350. From the car window (white Kia 4-door), the suspect snatched the computer from the victim’s hands and drove out of the community, traveling in an unknown direction. Tot. Est. Loss: $350.

Theft

W Commercial Blvd

On June 5, a child shopping with her family put her iPad down on a shelf and picked up a piece of merchandise. After the family realized the child no longer had the iPad, they returned to where they last saw her with it. The iPad was no longer on the shelf. Tot. Est. Loss: $600.

Arrests

Smith, Dean Anthony, 20, was arrested on charges of Burgl-conveyance, Unoccupied/unarmed on Woodlands Blvd, Tamarac, on 6/1/2021.

Semiglia, Milton R., 64, was arrest on charges of Touch Or Strike/battery/domestic Viol on Pine Island Rd, Tamarac, on 6/3/2021.

Oliver, Jermaine Dwayne, 41, was arrested on charges of Warrant – Vop (poss. Eutylone), on W Mcnab Rd, Tamarac, on 6/3/2021.

Vanschaick, Howard William, 60, was arrested for an open warrant on W Commercial Blvd, Tamarac, on 6/3/2021.

Levin, Sari Hope, 39, was arrested on DUI Alcohol Or Drugs 1st Offense charges on Southampton Ter, Tamarac, on 6/3/2021.

Huff, Kenny Warren, 34, was arrested on Trespassing charges on W McNab Rd, Tamarac, on 6/3/2021.

Boylan, Charles Tyler, 29, was arrested on charges of Battery-touch Or Strike on N University Dr, Tamarac, on 6/5/2021.

Welch, Javaris John Thomas, 32, was arrested on Domestic Battery charges by Strangulation in Tamarac on 6/6/2021.

Bennett, Orlando Paul, 22, was arrested on charges of Aggrav Assault – Weapon-w Deadly Weapon Without Intent To Kill on 61st St., Tamarac, on 6/7/2021.
