Tamarac Crime Update: Latest Incidents Through December 16

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through December 16.  Names of those not arrested have been redacted.

Aggravated Battery

7900 block of NW 90 Ave

On December 14, the victim reported he and his wife got into an argument the night before over pictures/calls on his phone. The wife threw a glass bowl at her husband, who suffered deep lacerations to his lower left leg. She was arrested for Domestic Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon.

Auto theft

5901 Madison Ave – Arrigo Dodge Sawgrass

On December 11, the victim reported the suspect purchased a vehicle from the business between 10/13 and 12/11 by using fraudulent information that was discovered after delivery of the vehicle was made. The vehicle could not be located to be repossessed.

Baker/marchman Act

6800 block of North Pine Island Road

On December 16, the subject’s ex-wife reported he had made verbal threats that he would hang himself because during the last month, he was having some personal issues. The reporting person made the complaint and stated that the subject was at a park on Atlantic and the Sawgrass Expressway. The deputy made contact with the subject there. The subject stated that he was depressed and that he did make threats, but he did not mean to hurt himself. He also stated that he might be delusional because he was dehydrated. The subject was transported to University Medical Center, where he was Baker Acted.

Burglary Conveyance

7100 block of NW 78 Terrace – Academy Hills

On December 11, three suspects with hoodies, one using a punching tool, attempted to force entry into the victim’s vehicle. (Related to another auto theft case)

4800 block of NW 55 Place – Manor Parc

On December 12, deputies met with the victim who said unknown subjects entered her vehicle overnight and removed her laptop from inside the vehicle.

7600 block of NW 67 Ave – Concord Village

On December 14, the victim reported an unknown suspect attempted to gain entry into his vehicle between 12/11 and 12/13. Entry was not made. The vehicle sustained minor damage to the door.

5700 block of NW 64 Terrace – Mainlands 8

On December 14, the victim reported between 12/13 and 12/14 someone pried the rear passenger door on his Volkswagen Tiguan and removed the victim’s checkbook.

5200 block of West Prospect Road

On December 15, an unknown male stole the victim’s wallet from her vehicle and later used the victim’s credit cards at 7-Eleven and Walgreens.

10700 block of West Clairmont Circle

On December 12, the victim reported that between 12/11 and 12/12, her vehicle was found with the driver window smashed.

7505 NW Terrace

On December 12, an employee at a surgery center said she called a patient to go over a scheduled surgery for his broken arm, and at one point the patient became upset and said if the surgery doesn’t happen he would shoot him in the back referring to the surgeon the employee believed. The employee said she didn`t think the patient was serious and didn’t feel threatened, and she refused to give a sworn statement. The patient denied saying it.

Recovered auto

5100 block of East Sabal Palm Blvd – Sabal Palm Village

On December 11, a Kia Forte reported stolen out of Lauderdale Lakes was located by the owner unoccupied, unlocked with the keys inside it, in the parking lot of the Sabal Palm Village development, where his daughter (who last drove the vehicle) previously resided. The vehicle was released to the owner on the scene.

Theft – all other

8300 block of Sands Point Blvd

On December 12, the complainant advised that on Tues 12/10 and Wednesday, 12/11 packages were stolen from in front of her residence.

Theft – retail, shoplifting

5775 North University Drive – Sally Beauty Supply

On December 11, the store manager observed a subject with the merchandise in his bag and asked if he was going to pay for the item. The subject turned away from the manager and ran out of the store while grabbing additional merchandise. The total amount of the loss was $113.48.

8245 North Pine Island Road – Publix

On December 11, an unknown suspect passed all points of sale with $138.05 worth of groceries. The suspect got into a jeep. The owner of the vehicle had recently checked the vehicle into the Arrigo Dodge for maintenance.

3915 West Commercial Blvd – CVS

On December 12, two unknown individuals entered the CVS store. Once inside the store, both suspects stole approximately $109.96 worth of toys from within. After taking the items, they fled the area in a silver four-door vehicle.

3914 West Commercial Blvd – Walgreens

On December 14, an unknown male entered the store and concealed three packs of Nicorette gum inside the front pockets of his hoodie, a total worth $195.97. The suspect then walked out of the establishment without making any attempt to pay.

On December 14, two females entered the store, selected several toys, and concealed them in Christmas gift bags. The suspects fled on foot and were last seen heading eastbound out of the store. Video footage was collected.
