Tamarac Crime Update: Latest Incidents Through December 23

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through December 23.  Names of those not arrested have been redacted.

Aggravated Battery



7601 West Commercial Blvd

On December 22, a male in a silver vehicle shot several paintball rounds at two homeless people sitting at the bus stop in between MacDonalds and Taco Bell. Both victims were struck about the face and chest area.

Auto theft



7100 block of Southgate Blvd

On December 19, the victim reported her Infiniti FX35 was stolen from the parking lot between 12/18 and 12/19. There were no signs of forced entry into the vehicle.

Battery

6100 block of Laurel Lane

On December 17, the victim stated her husband slapped her across the face with an open hand and then took off his brown leather belt and used it to hit her multiple times on the buttocks area.
 Her husband was transported to the main jail without incident.

Burglary Business



7241 North Pine Island Rd – Subway

On December 21, two suspects smashed the front door with a sledgehammer. They took an empty cash drawer (value of $400) and left in a white SUV with an unknown tag. Video surveillance was uploaded.

6701 Hiatus Road – City Furniture Parking lot

On December 17, the victim reported his Ford Explorer driver’s side passenger window was smashed, and the vehicle was ransacked.

6000 block of Orchard Tree Lane – Woodlands Country Club

On December 18, the victim reported a suspect(s) gained entry to her vehicle through the unlocked front door between 12/17 and 12/18. The victim’s purse was taken.

7600 block of Westwood Drive

On December 18, the victim reported two vehicles were burglarized overnight. The vehicles were locked, and the front windows were broken. Latent Prints were collected. No surveillance was available.

6800 block of NW 70 Ave – Harbor Chase of Tamarac

On December 18, deputies reported two vehicles had their passenger’s side windows smashed. A wallet containing three credit cards and $28 in cash was taken. Latent prints were obtained.

5900 block of NW 56th Court

On December 19, the victim reported she found her vehicle, a Toyota Camry, with the door ajar and a wallet taken from the center console on 12/18. The only item of value inside the wallet was a Florida driver’s license. The victim went to the district office, so no area canvass was conducted, and the vehicle was wet from rain in the area. The interior where the wallet was taken from had no surfaces that were able to be processed for latent prints.

6980 West McNab Road – Tubby’s Liquors

On December 20, an unknown person(s) burglarized the victim’s vehicle while he shopped at Tubby’s Food Store.

10900 block of Bailey Lane – Captiva

An unknown suspect made entry into the victim’s vehicle via an unlocked door. Nothing was taken. The suspect was possibly in a black Mercedes SUV. Video footage was uploaded to Evidence.com.

11000 West McNab Road – Sunset Point Park

On December 22, an unknown male suspect driving a white SUV (video) forced entry into the victim’s rear passenger side window. The suspect stole a purse, $200 cash, and a debit card. The suspect used the debit card minutes later at a CVS.

9900 block of NW 77 Street – The Villas at Woodmont

On December 22, an unknown suspect(s) burglarized the victim’s vehicles and stole a black Beats by Dr. Dre earphone from one of the vehicles. No property was stolen from the other vehicle. Both vehicles were left unlocked.

9351 West Commercial Blvd

On December 18, the deputy was dispatched to make contact with a male victim, in reference to a theft by an unknown suspect(s).

Theft – bicycle



8245 North Pine Island Road – Publix

On December 21, an unknown suspect(s) stole the victim’s Emojo E-Tricycle ($3,000.00), which had a seat with a back, black handles, and an orange flag on the back. The area was canvassed, and Publix video surveillance was checked with negative results.

Theft – retail, shoplifting



3150 West Commercial Blvd – Family Dollar

On December 18, an unknown male entered the store and concealed 11 packages of diapers ($227.60) inside the store’s black garbage bin. The suspect then walked out of the establishment through the rear door without making any attempt to pay.

On December 19, the reporting person advised she observed two unknown females exit the store with several toys in their hands. They both passed all points of sale and did not pay for the stolen items. She further advised that there may have been a third unknown female involved that distracted the cashier and exited the store at the same time. The total loss was $145.52.

3150 West Commercial Blvd – Family Dollar

On December 22, an unknown male, wearing a gray hoodie and black pants, entered the Family Dollar Store, selected cleaning supplies, and exited the store, passing all points of sale without paying for the items.

3914 West Commercial Blvd – Walgreens

On December 19, the reporting person advised that an unknown male entered the store and grabbed two perfume gift sets ($44.00), and walked past all point of sale, exiting the store without paying for the two items.
