Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through December 30. Names of those not arrested have been redacted.
Arrestable Traffic Violations
4900 block of West Commercial Blvd
On December 24, a hit and run motor vehicle accident was reported. The driver of the fleeing vehicle was apprehended and positively identified.
Auto theft
8000 block of NW 71 Court – Pineapple Park
On December 24, the victim reported
her vehicle was stolen overnight. The key fob was left inside her Nissan Altima.
4800 block of NW 51 Terrace – Manor Parc
On December 27, deputies met with the caller who wanted to report her KIA Optima, was stolen from her driveway overnight. The owner left her key FOB in the door.
Battery
7400 block of NW 58 Street
On December 24, the victim reported she was pushed down while she and her granddaughter were walking back to the residence. The suspect then continued to batter the victim on the ground.
4600 block of NW 58 Court
On December 24, the victim reported that during a heated argument, the offender (boyfriend) battered her over their child in common. Consequently, the offender was charged with battery domestic violence and transported to the main county jail.
Burglary Business
8501 West McNab Road – Closed Plaza
On December 24, a suspect stole wires, items, and metal from inside the closed plaza. The owner declined prosecution.
Burglary Conveyance
800 block of NW 70 Terrace
On December 25, the victim reported he had a video of three suspects trying vehicle door handles during the morning of 12/24. One male suspect was wearing a white hoodie and white pants. The victim’s wallet was stolen out of an unlocked vehicle.
8000 block of NW 71 Court – Pineapple Park
On December 24, an unknown suspect(s) burglarized the victim’s vehicle. The suspect smashed the driver’s side window to make entry. The vehicle registration and insurance were stolen from the vehicle, and two iPhones were stolen from a separate vehicle nearby.
8000 block of West McNab Road – Concord Village
On December 24, the victim reported an unknown subject(s) entered an unlocked vehicle and stole $2.00 in coins from the cup holder. No witnesses were available, but the building does have surveillance video. No damages occurred to the vehicle.
8200 block of NW 91 Ave
On December 26, the victim noticed his unlocked vehicle had been gone through and was missing money. Contact was made with another neighbor after an area canvas. After checking the camera system, the neighbor realized her vehicle had been gone through as well but was not missing anything. It appeared three juveniles in pants and hoodies were pulling on car door handles.
6000 block of Live Oak Court
On December 28, a black Nissan Rouge was burglarized, and a green bag was stolen.
Burglary Residence
5900 block of NW Paradise Place
On December 24, the victim reported an unknown suspect(s) gained entry into her townhouse by smashing the rear sliding glass door with a rock.
Information
7200 block of Fairfax Drive – Fairfax at Kings Point
On December 25, an elderly male accidentally shot himself in the left hand with his firearm, while showing it off to family members. He sustained a minor injury to his fingers and was transported to Broward General Hospital by Tamarac Fire Rescue.
6000 Block of Pine Island Road
On December 28, the complainant said he drove his vehicle away from his apartment and then approximately ten minutes into driving, he was hearing a noise and stopped to find his driver side rear tire flat. The tire had a gash in it. It is unknown if the tire was damaged by something in the road or if someone could have cut the tire while it was parked at night.
Robbery by sudden snatching
3101 West Commercial Blvd – 7-Eleven Food Store
On December 28, the reporting person advised that an unknown heavyset female entered the store and became confrontational with her and the staff because she took a photo of her vehicle tag, thinking that she was involved in a previous incident. This confrontation led to the suspect committing a simple battery by throwing a soda at a staff member and, ultimately, a robbery by snatching more money from the cashier’s hands than was owed to her.
Theft – retail, shoplifting
3914 West Commercial Blvd – Walgreens
On December 28, a female subject entered the store, stole several items, and walked out without paying.
