Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through January 4.
Battery
4600 block of NW 58 Court
On January 4, the male subject punched his wife twice in the face with a closed fist causing bruising. A child was present during the incident.
Burglary Business
7450 West McNab Road – Dunkin’ Donuts
On December 28, an unknown subject forced entry through the drive-through window of the business. Upon gaining access, the subject was able to steal approximately $150.
Burglary Conveyance
8000 block of NW 96 Terrace – Coral Vista
Between December 28 and December 30, an unknown subject(s) burglarized an unoccupied Honda Accord, which was parked in the owner’s parking spot. A black Ruger LCP.380 cal ($350) was taken from within the vehicle.
2900 block of NW 46 Street
On January 2, the victim advised that the front passenger door of his vehicle does not lock, and upon entering his vehicle that morning, he discovered that his glove compartment was rifled through, and some items were missing.
8900 block of NW 80 Drive
On January 2, a known male subject entered an unsecured vehicle and stole the victim’s purse containing cash, credit cards, etc. Video footage from the home and a neighboring home was obtained.
5700 block of Woodland Point Drive – The Commons
On January 4, the victim reported an unknown subject made entry to her unlocked vehicle, but no property was stolen. Video surveillance was collected.
Criminal Mischief
7600 block of NW 73 Terrace
On January 1, the victim reported her mailbox was destroyed when an unknown person placed a firecracker inside.
Fire
8201 North Pine Island Road – Tamarac Town Square
On January 1, a Waste Management Garbage truck caught on fire while parked in the parking lot of Tamarac Town Square next to 7-Eleven. Tamarac Fire Rescue was on the scene as well as the City of Sunrise Fire Rescue.
Information
6200 Hiatus Road
On January 2, while driving on Hiatus Road looking for a vehicle that was used in a burglary, the deputy observed an Armored Brinks truck stopped in the southbound lane with its hazard lights on. The deputy made a u-turn and saw the driver outside picking up coins off the road. He stopped traffic and helped him push the coins into the left lane so the traffic could pass. The driver picked the coins up, and it appeared he was able to get all of them.
Recovered Auto
7801 NW 80th Ave – Woodmont Country Club
On January 1, a Yamaha Gas Golf Cart was stolen from the property. On January 2, the golf cart was reported to be on the golf course in perfect condition.
Armed Robbery
8790 West McNab Road – Walgreens
On January 2, three females entered the front door and loaded a basket full of items. The females were confronted at the door as they were exiting and pepper-sprayed the store manager and clerk. Robbery detectives arrived on the scene for further investigation.
Theft – all other
2500 block of NW 54 Street
On December 31, the victim reported the theft of an Amazon package containing soundbar speakers from outside of his residence on 12/23.
5724 North University Drive – Menchie’s Frozen Yogurt
On January 1, a male subject entered the business and stole a tip jar containing $20 that belonged to an 18-year-old female (victim).
3216 West Commercial Blvd – Nail Stop
On January 2, the victim advised that after a new customer received a pedicure and manicure, she attempted to pay for the services with a credit card that she only had a picture of on her cell phone. The female suspect stated that it was her father’s credit card. When the victim refused to accept payment without proper identification, the suspect exited the salon without paying and fled the area as a passenger in a vehicle.
Theft – retail, shoplifting
6401 West Commercial Blvd – Walgreens
On January 2, an unknown group of individuals, two males, and two females stole two packages of Pampers and one pack of Huggies Pull-ups from the business.
