Tamarac Crime Update Through August 12

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through August 12.

Burglary Conveyance

4600 block of Cavendish Drive

On August 7, an unknown person burglarized the victim’s car and stole his wallet and iPad.

5000 block of NW 51st Terrace

On August 7, an unknown person(s) entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and once inside, removed the victim’s brown wallet and its contents.

4900 block of NW 51st Terrace

On August 7, an unknown person(s) entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and once inside, ransacked the interior. No personal items were missing at that time.

4700 block of NW 51st Terrace

On August 7, an unknown person burglarized the victim’s car and stole his work laptop and tools.

4800 block of NW 48th Ave – Mainland

On August 8, someone entered the victim’s unlocked vehicle and removed four music CDs ($20) and a lotto ticket ($4). The area was canvassed.

4400 block of NW 45th Street – Mainland

On August 8, an unknown subject(s) made entry through the front driver side door of two unsecured vehicles. A Glock 19 Magazine 9mm, leather briefcase containing miscellaneous documents and $15.00 in loose change was stolen.

Loitering/Prowling

5900 block of NW 56th Place – Chelsea Place

On August 6, deputies responded to a residence in reference to a burglary in progress. A juvenile male was located and detained.

Theft – all other

7707 W Commercial Blvd – Salvation Army

On August 12, the Assistant Manager reported that an unknown person(s) stole decorative plants from the front of the store for an approximate loss of $180.00.

Auto Theft

4900 block of NW 51st Ave

On August 6, the victim reported an unknown person stole a 2019 Cadillac Escalade from his driveway overnight, while he was sleeping.

5840 block of NW 57th Court – The Osprey Community

On August 9, BSO met with a female complainant, who said her current boyfriend took her vehicle on 8/7 and failed to return it at the agreed-upon time. An auto theft affidavit was signed.

6700 block of Brookwood Blvd

On August 12, the victim reported he was away on a business trip, and when he returned, his vehicle was missing from the driveway. The vehicle was possibly stolen with a spare car key he had left in another car in the driveway.

Recovered Auto

10900 block of Bailey Road

On August 6, a BSO recovered a black Jaguar stolen from the City of Lauderhill.

Abandoned Vehicle

5600 block of NW 91st Ave/West Commercial Blvd

On August 6, a vehicle was parked in the roadway blocking traffic. The vehicle was towed by Westway and entered into the system as an abandoned vehicle. No victims were listed.

Fraud

8200 block of NW 68th Ave

On August 8, the complainant advised someone opened a DirectTV account using her personal information between 4/2018 and 7/2019.

Violation of Parole/Probation/Community Control

5100 West Commercial Blvd

On August 6, the subject was stopped for operating an unregistered vehicle. He was arrested and charged with felony violation of probation (fleeing/eluding a law enforcement officer).

Information

10300 block of NW 83rd Street

On August 6, a loose pit bull was unclaimed in the area. The dog was taken to D11 kennels and animal control was contacted. The dog was non-aggressive and had no tags or collar.

8000 block of Fairview Drive

On August 6th, an information report was taken regarding a disturbance involving a resident who was upset about his vehicle being towed.

3873 West Commercial Blvd – Extended Stay Hotel

On August 12, BSO responded to a hotel room in reference to a 2-year-old child walking outside alone calling for his mother. The Florida Abuse Hotline was notified.

Criminal Mischief

5000 block of NW 48th Way – Mainlands

On August 9, a vehicle appeared to drive into a fence and drove through an empty lot. The vehicle then appeared to exit the fence forcefully.

6193 Rock Island Road

On August 12, an unknown person punctured the victim’s tire while it was parked unattended in a marked parking space in the parking lot.

Petit Theft

5881 North University Drive – Publix Super Market

On August 11, the victim reported a theft of grocery items from Publix totaling $58.10. A notice to appear was issued.

Stolen Property

7500 bock of North Pine Island Road

On August 8, a firearm was stolen from the victim’s vehicle by an unknown subject.
