Tamarac Crime Update through August 19

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through August 19.  Names of those not arrested have been redacted.

Burglary Residence

7900 block of NW 74 Terrace – Sunflower/Heathgate

On August 14, an unknown subject(s) attempted to remove the open area garage gate attached to the house.

Theft – all other

5600 Nob Hill Road – CSC ServiceWorks

On August 13, the victim reported an unknown suspect(s) broke the padlock and steel door to the XactAir machines located in the 7-Eleven parking lot and removed an unknown amount of money.

5745 North University Drive – Dollar Tree

On August 14, the female subject removed the victim’s wallet from her purse while the purse was unguarded in her shopping cart. Credit and debit cards were attempted to be used at a local Publix and a Target.

9500 block of Weldon Circle Kings Point

On August 18, an elderly victim was coerced into giving her debit card, pin and Social Security number to suspects claiming to be from her bank.

Theft – retail, shoplifting

4121 West Commercial Boulevard – Publix Super Market

On August 13, the subject came in and took about $65.00 worth of steaks and left without paying for them.

On August 14, the unknown male walked out of the establishment without making any attempt to pay for two Heineken 18-packs of beer.

3150 West Commercial Blvd – Family Dollar

On August 19, a theft report was taken. The store manager stated an unknown female entered the store and stole 19 items totaling $130.70. The subject passed all points of sale and left in an unknown direction.

Auto Theft

9500 block of NW 81 Manor

On August 14, an Infinity Q-50 was taken from the residence. The keys were left in the ignition, and a vehicle theft affidavit was signed. There was no suspect information and the direction of travel was unknown.

Fraud

4101 West Commercial Blvd – Wells Fargo Bank

On August 13, a Cooper City resident reported someone used their stolen ID to withdraw cash from a bank.

8200 block of NW 95 Ave

On August 13, a resident reported a credit card had been opened in his name and subsequently used in Oakland Park.

8080 block of NW 71 Court – Pineapple Park

On August 14, the female victim alleged the listed location was rented to her under a fraudulent lease by a male posing as a realtor for the property.

Information

5030 block of Island Club Drive

On August 13, deputies responded to a suspicious incident about an apartment that looked like it might have been burglarized. Furniture and other things in the apartment were found to be damaged, and it appeared to be vandalism. The resident could not be located at first. He was subsequently located at Florida Medical Center and had been brought in under a Baker Act during the night.

6701 Hiatus Road – City Furniture

On August 13, a City Furniture manager reported that a male customer disrespected and insulted a customer service associate during a phone conversation concerning the service about a piece of furniture he purchased.

7900 block of Tuscany Court

On August 19, the reporter advised known subjects consistently use gun emojis accompanied by threatening captions on Instagram that imply violence against his son.

Aggravated Assault

10000 block of NW 83 Street – Northwood 2

On August 15, a female subject was arrested for pointing a .40 caliber Smith & Wesson at her boyfriend during an argument. A sworn statement was obtained, and the scene was photographed. She was taken to the main jail.

Animal Bite

7900 block of NW 67 Ave

On August 15, a call came in that a large-sized pitbull, jumped the victim’s backyard fence and attacked and killed her small-sized dog.

Battery

8990 block of NW 78 Court

On August 18, the victim got cut by her friend with a pair of scissors during an altercation. The victim refused to give the name of the suspect. She was transported to University Hospital by Tamarac Fire Rescue.

4500 block of NW 17 Ave

On August 18, the arrestee was involved in a physical altercation with her mother and sister. The subject was transported to main jail for booking for two counts of domestic battery.

Criminal Mischief

2500 block of NW 54 Street

On August 18, the victim advised that the rear window to her Dodge Caravan was smashed in. She believed that her brother-in-law was the one who did it, after having an argument with him in the Town of Davie earlier in the night.
