Tamarac Crime Update through July 19

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through July 19.  Names of those not arrested have been redacted.

Burglary Conveyance

8000 block of NW 100th Drive

On July 16, the victim reported an unknown person(s) broke into his unlocked vehicle overnight between midnight and 5:00 a.m. The suspect(s) stole a wallet from inside the vehicle.

5100 block of NW 47th Street

On July 16, the victim reported an unknown suspect(s) went inside the unlocked vehicle and stole her wallet with her security card inside of it.

9600 block of NW 76th Court

On July 16, the victim reported someone went into both of his unlocked vehicles overnight and rummaged through the glove compartments, but nothing was taken.

7200 block of NW 61st Street

On July 17, a female caller reported her vehicle was burglarized.

4100 block of Lakeside Drive – Lakeside

On July 17, the victim found the front driver side door ajar when he exited his house at approximately 12:30 p.m. The victim stated the car had been rummaged through; however nothing was missing.

5600 block of Melaleuca Drive – Woodlands

On July 17, an unknown subject(s) entered the unlocked car and stole the victim’s black Michael Kors wallet, overnight between 07/16/19 and 07/17/19.

4017 West Commercial Blvd

On July 18, the victim parked her vehicle in the Sunshine Plaza parking lot and walked over to Trapeze. The victim returned to her front driver side window smashed, but no items were taken.

5231 North SR 7 – Trapeze Plaza

On July 18, two victims had windows smashed on the vehicles while inside Trapeze. One vehicle had no items taken; the other had an iPhone charger and key ring taken.

6100 block of NW 71st Ave

On July 18, a female caller reported her vehicle was burglarized overnight.

Auto Theft

9600 block of NW 76th Court

On July 16, the victim reported a vehicle was stolen from his driveway. The video was captured on their ring doorbell.

2900 block of NW 46th Street

On July 17, the victim stated that she woke up to find her car stolen, which was parked in the driveway.

Theft – All other

5001 North SR 7 – Shell Gas Station

On July 17, the victim had her iPhone 8 stolen by a customer after she handed it to the customer to speak with her manager.

Theft – Retail/Shoplifting

6401 West Commercial Blvd – Walgreens

On July 19, a black female entered Walgreens and checked the interior, then left and entered a silver Mini Cooper with a black top in the parking lot. A short time later, a black male from the same vehicle, entered the business carrying a red shopping bag. The male jumped the front register counter and began taking cartons and single packs of cigarettes from behind the counter. The black male left the business and fled the area in the Mini Cooper. Video surveillance was obtained, and a victim theft affidavit was completed and signed.

4121 W Commercial Blvd – Publix at Sunshine Plaza

On July 19, a male suspect stole $149 worth of laundry detergent.

4161 West Commercial Blvd – Publix Liquors

On July 19, a male suspect was captured on store surveillance stealing.

Burglary Residence

6900 block of NW 78th Street

On July 16, the victim stated an unknown person(s) removed lawn equipment from her garage sometime during the early morning hours. The point of entry was made by forcing the garage door open.

7000 block of Woodmont Ave

On July 17, an alarm sounded at the victim’s residence. Upon arrival, the sliding glass back door was observed to be shattered. There is no suspect information, and it is unknown if anything was taken from the residence. After multiple attempts, no contact was made with the homeowner.
