Tamarac Crime Update Through June 24

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through June 24.  Names of those not arrested have been redacted.

Burglary Conveyance

4100 block of Lakeside Drive

On June 18, a deputy responded to the home about a delayed burglary to a conveyance. A gray Toyota Corolla was broken into overnight from 06/17/2019 to 06/18/2019. There are no known suspects at this time.

7300 block of NW 58th Court

On June 20, a deputy responded to document a burglary. When a canvass was performed, it was revealed that multiple cars were burglarized in the area overnight between 6/19/19 and 6/20/19.

5700 block of Tuscany Terrace

On June 20, the victim reported that unknown suspects broke into several cars throughout Tuscany and in the area along NW 58th Street and Place. Video shows at least two possible young males pulling on door handles overnight between 6/19/19 and 6/20/19.

5800 block of NW 85th Terrace

Sometime between 9:00 p.m. on June 19th and 6:00 a.m. on June 20th, an unknown suspect entered a possibly unlocked Hyundai. The suspect ransacked the vehicle, stole a spare wallet with miscellaneous papers and a firearm from the center console.

8700 block of NW 58th Street

Between 9:00 p.m. on 6/19 and 7:00 a.m. on 6/20, the driver side window of a black Honda Civic was smashed in the resident’s driveway. Nothing was taken.

8800 block of South Isles Circle

On June 21, the victim reported that his work was broken into. He works at Ryan Inc Southern. All stolen items combined are valued at $40,000.

Burglary Business

7822 North University Drive – West Broward Eye Care

On June 19, police investigated a burglary at West Broward Eye Care. The front (west) glass door had been shattered and approximately 32 glasses frames had been taken from the business.

Auto Theft

8500 block of NW 58th Place

Between 7:30 p.m. on 6/19 and 6:15 a.m. on 6/20, the victim’s White Chrysler Town & Country was taken from the driveway of his residence.

Theft – Retail/Shoplifting

3915 West Commercial Blvd – CVS Pharmacy

On June 18, the suspect entered CVS and stole hygienic items.

4197 West Commercial Blvd – Marshalls

On June 19, police met with a Marshalls Loss Prevention Associate, who through video surveillance, witnessed a black female walk out of the store with two handbags without paying.

Theft – all other

4600 block of NW 44th Court – Mainlands of Tamarac

On June 20, the victim reported he was doing an audit of his gun safe and noticed his black Glock 17 Gen 5 was missing along with five fully loaded magazines. He believes this happened between 5/18/19 and 6/15/19.

Fraud

4700 block of NW 58th Street

On June 21, the victim reported that he had responded to an ad on Craigslist in reference to a house for rent. He sent $2,000 via Moneygram for a deposit and first month’s rent, later finding out it was a scam.

Information

8100 block of NW 73rd Ave

The reporting person advised he located two loose pitbull dogs in front of his neighbor’s house. Both dogs were returned to their owner. No victims were listed.
