Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through October 2. Names of those not arrested have been redacted.
Aggravated Battery
4400 block of Treehouse Lane
On September 23, deputies responded to the location in reference to the reporting of a stabbing. After completing the investigation, two suspects were arrested.
4267 West Commercial Blvd – Sunshine Plaza
On September 27, an unknown subject struck the victim in the chest with a bat after a verbal altercation. The victim left the area and noticed he was being followed by the suspect and dialed 911. The victim arrived at the City of Coconut Creek where he met officers and the suspect fled westbound on Sample and was unable to locate.
Arrestable Traffic Violations
West Commercial Blvd and Woodlands Blvd
On September 23, a habitual traffic offender was involved in an accident. A records check revealed the vehicle was reported stolen.
Battery
3873 West Commercial Blvd
On September 30, deputies responded to a domestic violence battery incident between a mother and her adult son at the Extended Stay America Motel. The arrestee was transported to the main jail.
Burglary Residence
7300 block of NW 76th Street
On September 23, an unknown suspect entered the victim’s unlocked Chevy Tahoe parked in front of his residence and stole miscellaneous A/C refrigeration tools.
7900 block of Fairview Drive
On September 25, the victim reported his apartment was burglarized overnight while he was not home. He said he had been having an ongoing dispute with an ex-girlfriend who he thinks is the suspect. He advised 12 of his shirts was ripped up and items were missing.
Burglary Conveyance
6451 North University Drive – Mastec North America Inc
On September 26, the victim reported an unknown suspect broke the passenger side window of his truck and removed a bag, which the victim uses as his lunch bag.
5700 block of Isles Circle
On September 26, the victim reported an unknown individual gained access to his unlocked vehicle and removed a pistol + magazine and a garage door opener.
11000 West McNab Road – Sunset Point Park
On September 26, an unidentified individual gained access to the victim’s vehicle by smashing the front driver’s side window. A brown purse along with several credit cards and a Florida Driver’s license were taken from the vehicle.
4400 block of Treehouse Lane
On September 27, a possible known subject made forced entry through the rear windshield of the victim’s car, taking a leaf blower and a table saw ($500). The incident was captured on video surveillance.
6950 Southgate Blvd (Mission Lakes Condos)
On September 28, the victim advised that on 09/27, he noticed items were stolen from his Infiniti by an unknown suspect(s). The items were an auxiliary cable ($20), iPhone 8 ($100), Airpods ($150), $70, a driver’s license and Discover Card.
8800 block of South Isles Circle
On September 29, the victim reported her vehicle was burglarized while she was inside her friend’s residence. The victim advised the suspect(s) stole her wallet containing numerous credit cards, $40, her driver’s license and a copy of her US Social Security Card. There was no forced entry to the vehicle.
9901 NW 77th Street – Tamarac Sports Complex
On September 29, an unknown suspect(s) burglarized the victim’s vehicle while she was assisting at a baseball game. The suspect(s) made forced entry through the rear driver side window and stole a purse containing multiple credit cards, a wallet, and driver’s license.
8101 Southgate Blvd – Gary B. Jones Park for People and Pups
On September 30, a deputy responded in reference to a burglary conveyance. The front driver’s side window was shattered, and a purse containing a Henri Bendel wallet, and a Victoria’ Secret credit card were stolen from the front driver’s side floorboard.
7650 West Mcnab Road – Concord Apartments
On October 1, via video surveillance, two unknown subjects were observed walking through the parking lot, in which one subject used a punch center tool to gain access into two vehicles. The victims were not on the scene.
5300 block of Banyan Lane
On October 2, the victim reported a burglary conveyance to her Ford Escape overnight. Nothing was taken from inside the vehicle. The suspect(s) stole an Amazon package containing a water hose ($50) and a nozzle ($10) from the victim’s porch. The crime scene was processed.
Criminal Mischief
5760 Rock Island Road – Sun Vista Gardens
On September 23, the caller reported that her car was keyed by an unknown person, while it was parked in her son’s apartment complex on 9/20.
4900 block of NW 48 Terrace
On September 29, the victim claimed the suspect poured bleach into her vehicle’s gas tank, causing an undetermined amount of damage. The suspect was gone upon arrival.
7600 block of Westwood Drive
On September 30, an unknown person keyed the victim’s vehicle.
Elderly Abuse
6300 block of Landings Way
On September 25, deputies responded to the residence for allegations in reference to elderly abuse/neglect.
7500 block of North Devon Drive
On September 27, deputies responded to a report of elderly abuse/neglect.
Fire
5435 N State Road 7 – Pho Hoa Restaurant
On September 25, deputies responded to the restaurant in reference to a structure fire. Tamarac Fire Rescue was able to extinguish the fire during that process. The walls and ceiling of the business were damaged.
Information
7401 North University Drive
On September 23, the caller reported she felt uncomfortable after a visit on 9/20 because her doctor asked to see her scars. She advised she wore a long dress and she felt her privacy was violated.
7201 North University Drive – University Hospital
On September 30, the caller reported he was mistreated by his physical therapist during a session.
8300 block of Sands Point Blvd
On September 24, the victim was getting ready for bed when an unknown male was seen looking into her bedroom window.
5100 West Commercial Blvd
On September 25, the reporting person claimed they were in the restroom when someone from the business came in and sprayed chemicals in their eyes, which occurred on 07/19. The reportee stated they had to go to the hospital for their eyes, but they had no paperwork to verify. The business stated a cleaning person sprayed Lysol into the air, and the reportee just walked into the spray and was fine. The reportee received a check from the business for $23.30 for eye drops they purchased at Walgreens.
Missing Person
6000 block of NW 80th Ave
On September 30, a missing juvenile returned home after being missing for three days.
Recovered Auto
5900 block of NW 46 Terrace – Golf Point Villas
On September 25, a Ford F-250 that was reported stolen out of West Palm Beach a few hours earlier was recovered. The owner tracked the vehicle using his iPad. A possible suspect was identified. The vehicle was released to the owner on the scene.
Robbery
4999 North State Road 7 – 7-Eleven
On September 24, a gold chain and an iPhone 7 were stolen in a robbery by sudden snatching.
Suspicious Incident
7900 block of NW 83 Street
On September 25, the homeowner advised unknown suspects knocked on her door, but they fled in a vehicle when she came outside. She later observed the same blue vehicle on her street and saw two suspects enter it. No crime appeared to have occurred. The vehicle was in the system as being stolen.
7400 block of Corkwood Terrace
On September 28, the resident reported he found a man without pants on, trying to get into the back patio door and confronted him. The resident escorted the male to the front of the residence, where he left the area. BSO was called and circulated and could not locate the man. On 9/28, the male’s pants were found at the front of the residence. Inside the pants was the males’ ID, who resides at a nearby residence. BSO made contact with the owner of the pants, who stated he must have been sleepwalking and did not remember what took place the previous night.
Theft – all other
2099 West Prospect Road
On September 25, the reporting person advised that sixteen batteries were stolen out of two separate portable changeable message boards. The message boards are owned by his employer (Bobs Barricades Inc.). The theft occurred between 9-16 and 9-23.
10500 block of NW 70th Street
On September 26, the victim had $100 dollars and $23,900 dollars in jewelry stolen from her home.
8000 block of Sanibel Drive
On September 30, the victim reported an unknown suspect(s) stole her ring doorbell between 09/29 and 09/30.
Theft – Retail, Shoplifting
5881 North University Drive – Publix
On September 30, a Publix employee called in a delayed shoplifting incident. A suspect was seen taking multiple whitening strips along with various other dental-related products.
Theft – motor vehicle parts
8700 block of Holly Court
On September 26, the victim reported all four of his rims and tires were stolen off his Honda ($3000).
8000 block of NW 96th Terrace – Coral Vista
On September 30, an unknown suspect(s) stole all four tires and wheel rims from two vehicles (Honda and Toyota). The vehicles were safely positioned on two bricks and the lug nuts were left at the scene.
Schools
8399 N University Drive – Renaissance Charter
On September 23, an 8-year-old student wrote a note stating he wanted to kill a classmate. A threat evaluation was completed.
7601 North University Drive – Tamarac Elementary School
On September 27, a threat assessment was completed at the school.
5703 NW 94 Ave – Challenger Elementary
On September 27, a threat assessment was completed at the school.
