Tamarac Crime Update Through September 2

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of crimes that occurred in Tamarac through September 2.  Names of those not arrested have been redacted.

Criminal Mischief

6300 block of Brookwood Blvd

On August 27, an unknown person(s) threw a cement brick through the back window of the victim’s vehicle.

5300 block of Seagrape Circle – Woodlands

On August 29, the listed victim’s door was shattered by her son.

Burglary Residence

4500 block of Cavendish Drive – Woodlands Country Club

On August 27, the deputy met with a caller who advised (seen on ring camera) an unknown black male wearing a dark-colored hoodie was knocking on his front door. The unknown subject then went around back and smashed the rear sliding glass door to the victim’s master-bedroom and made entry into his home. The alarm activated seconds later. It was unknown what was taken at that time. The crime scene was processed.

4500 block of NW 45th Court

On August 29, the victim’s 9mm Glock 43 firearm was stolen from his residence. The victim believes it was stolen by a known subject named “Joe”.

7300 block of NW 81st Street

On September 1, an unknown suspect stole a safe containing $30,000 from the victim’s home.

Gambling

7620 North Nob Hill Road – Kings Point

On August 29, the complainant advised of ‘illegal bingo’ at his homeowners’ association clubhouse.

Found Property

5850 Hiatus Rd

On August 28, the reporting person found a small black Sentry safe, approximately one foot by one foot that looked like it would fit a handgun. It was laying in the parking lot and had been pried open – and was empty.

7400 block of NW 83 Avenue – La Reserve

On September 2, deputies found a bicycle possibly related to an auto theft case.

Property damage

6997 West Commercial Blvd – Marketplace at Tamarac

On September 2, a Sunrise resident wished to report property damage to her vehicle that occurred in the afternoon in the parking area of the Marketplace at Tamarac.

Theft – all other

6701 Hiatus Road – City Furniture

On August 27, a City Furniture Fraud Prevention Manager reported two former employees that have failed to return company equipment for a loss of approximately $1,615.

7900 block of West Mcnab Road

On August 27, the victim stated that her checkbook was stolen by her ex-husband and he wrote and cashed several checks.

7727 Southampton Terrace – Southampton

On September 1, the victim reported that an unknown suspect(s) had stolen jewelry from her closet.

5400 block of Banyan Lane – The Woodlands Country Club

On August 28, an elderly female reported jewelry stolen from her residence.

Theft – retail, shoplifting

8199 North University Drive – Walgreens

On August 28, a black female, 30 to 40, and a second female suspect, 30 to 40, with black hair, carrying a large light pink over the shoulder purse, were observed on video stealing miscellaneous personal hygiene products totaling $466.71.

On September 2, an unknown suspect stole five Tide detergent bottles from the CVS Store.

On September 2, an unknown black male stole four Tide Detergent bottles from the store and left in a 4-door F-150.

Auto Theft

300 block of NW 83rd Way – La Reserve

On September 2, the victim reported a white Acura was stolen with the key fob inside the vehicle.

Fraud – All other

7700 block of NW 78th Ave

On August 27, the caller reported someone had used her personal information to order five iPhones from the Sprint corporation.

Burglary Business

8300 North University Drive – Public Storage

On September 1, an unknown suspect broke into the Public Storage office, rummaged around the office and left without taking items.

Burglary Conveyance

8400 block of West Mcnab Road

On September 1, the front passenger window of a vehicle was shattered, and a Sierra bookbag containing $800 cash and a passport was stolen from the front passenger seat.

8800 block of North Isles Circle

On September 2, surveillance video was captured of an unknown suspect pulling on the door handles of victims’ vehicles overnight.

Missing person (Non-crime)

7000 block of NW 78th Terrace

On September 2, two sisters, habitual runaways, ran away after getting in trouble in school.

Battery

8601 West Commercial Blvd – Tamarac Recreation Center

On August 29, a male battered another male during a basketball game. Mutual combatants between both parties.

8000 block of North Colony Circle

On September 1, the victims made a report of domestic violence in the residence. The offender was arrested and transported to the main jail for processing and booking.
