Tamarac Crime Update: Wire Fraud Targets Goldman Sachs Account

Through our joint effort with the Broward Sheriff’s Office to share updates to residents, this is a summary of Tamarac crime and arrests through November 8, 2021.

Death Investigation

Lagos De Campo Blvd.

On 11/07/2021, BSO opened an investigation into the death of a 61-year-old woman who died that day in the 8000 block of Lagos De Campo Blvd. The cause of death will be determined by the medical examiner’s office.

Fraud

NW 58th Ave.

On 11/05/2021, a 23-year-old male was the victim of fraud. Tot. Est. Loss: $8,000.

N. Pine Island Rd.

On 11/05/2021, a 44-year-old male was the victim of fraud. The man said he was being scammed and extorted. Tot. Est. Loss: $5,000.

Retail Theft

W. Commercial Blvd

On 11/05/2021, an unknown wheelchair-bound man rolled into the store and took several bottles of vitamins and cosmetic products, passing all points of sale. He left in a 4-door Toyota SUV occupied with four other men and fled northbound on NW 64th. Tot. Est. Loss: $300.

Robbery

N. State Rd. 7

A 58-year-old male was the victim of  Robbery on 11/05/2021. The subject walked into a business and took money from the petty cash box on the counter. Tot. Est. Loss: $300.

Theft

N. Pine Island Rd.

On 11/05/2021,  a business was the victim of theft. An unknown suspect was observed stealing a commercial mop bucket from the business. Tot. Est. Loss: $80.

Wire Fraud

Fairfax Dr.

A 79-year-old male was the victim of Fraud – Wire on 11/05/2021. The unknown suspect transferred money from the victim’s checking account into a Goldman Sachs account under the victim’s daughter’s name. The daughter was unaware of the account. Tot. Est. Loss: $10,000.

Arrests

Alemi, Zaid, 25, was arrested for battery on an officer firefighter Emt on  N University Dr on 11/07/2021.
