As food insecurity and poverty continue to plague Americans, the City of Tamarac is opening a food pantry to ease that burden for qualified families in need.

The food pantry includes canned fruits and vegetables, meats, beans, pasta, rice, cereal, nut butters, jam, baby food, and formula.

To qualify, residents must live in Tamarac, be experiencing financial hardship, and fall within the program’s income guidelines. For a four-person household, the range would include annual income levels between $0 and $71,300 per year. For one person, it would range between $0 and $49,950.

The pantry is open by appointment only on the second and fourth Thursday of each month, as long as supplies last. To schedule an appointment, residents can call (954) 597-3626 — or call to donate food.
