A Tamarac man and teacher at Plantation High School has been charged with a felony after allegedly engaging in an inappropriate relationship with a 15-year-old student.

According to the Plantation Police Department’s report, Gabriel Mohammed, 25, was first discovered to be having an inappropriate relationship with the student on January 23 when another teacher raised concerns about Mohammed’s interactions with a student, prompting an investigation.

During the investigation, records show officers gathered additional evidence of Mohammed engaging in inappropriate behavior with the student as far back as December 17, when a voicemail was discovered in which Mohammed professed his love to the 10th-grade student.

Further investigation revealed voice memos and a series of lewd text messages sent to the girl in January, where Mohammed expressed sexual frustration and acknowledged the impropriety of their relationship.

In one particularly alarming message, records show Mohammed stated, “ima say I’m so sexually deprived, I dream of my 15-year-old student.” According to records, he also gifted the student a vape pen.

According to a WSVN report, voice messages obtained between Mohammed and the girl further cemented the case, including one that read, “You were put in my life. I appreciate everything you mean to me. Have a good night baby girl I love you.”

In another voicemail, police said, Mohammed told the girl, “I don’t give a shit about how that sounds if I’m 25 and you’re 15. We know how we felt about each other. That shit was real.”

On February 6, Mohammed sent frantic messages demanding to see the girl, indicating he knew he had been caught having an inappropriate relationship with her.

In a voice memo, Mohammed reportedly admitted to being high and recognized the severe boundary-crossing their relationship entailed. He also predicted he would be labeled a pedophile and worried about his mother’s reaction to a potential arrest.

In his final voice memo to the student, Mohammed allegedly wrote, “I’m done,” police said he told the girl. “I’m gonna get classified as a f—ing pedophile, bruh.” before stating that would be his last day on earth.

Mohammed was taken into custody on Monday and appeared in bond court on Tuesday, where a judge issued a $30,000 bond and ordered him to stay away from the victim.

Muhammed has also been ordered to have no contact with minors, have no devices with internet access, and not return to any public and private school in Broward, Miami-Dade, or Palm Beach counties.

Broward County Public Schools spokesperson issued a statement following Mohammed’s arrest that read:

“The safety and well-being of students are always the highest priority. Upon learning of the allegations, the school’s leadership immediately notified the proper authorities to investigate,” the spokesperson said. “The teacher involved was also reassigned away from students and the school pending the case outcome.”
