Tamarac Man Struck, Killed While Crossing Street

By: Chris Brunner

A Tamarac man was struck and killed by an oncoming vehicle while crossing north of an intersection on Thursday evening.

Around 6:20 p.m. Nov. 24, a 2013 Hyundai Genesis was traveling north in the center lane of State Road 7 near Southwest 12 Street when it collided with the pedestrian Timothy Couture, 36, of Tamarac. He was walking west across the north lane of State Road 7, just north of the intersection, when he was struck. The driver, Kirshna Ramnarine, 23, had the green light when the crash occurred and remained at the scene.

North Lauderdale Fire Rescue responded and transported Couture to Broward Health North where he was pronounced dead.

Excessive speed and mechanical issues don’t appear to be contributing factors in the crash. Broward Sheriff’s Office Traffic Homicide investigators suspect Couture was impaired.  Their investigation continues.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact BSO THI Detective Michael Wiley at 954-321-4841.
