A Tamarac man wrestled a Taser away from a Broward Sheriff’s Office deputy and bit through a deputy’s skin, leading authorities to use chemical spray to subdue him, court records show.
Franki Vixama, 31, of 4610 NW 58th Ct., was wanted on a warrant for battering his mother when his father called BSO on Aug. 24 to say Vixama was inside their residence, according to an arrest affidavit.
When deputies arrived, Vixama refused to come out of a bathroom, according to BSO. They used a Taser to place him into custody, records show.
They next brought Vixama to a hospital to medically clear him for booking. After the hospital visit, on the way to a BSO patrol car, Vixama forcefully resisted deputies, and a struggle ensued, according to BSO.
“During the struggle. [Vixama] was able to take the Taser away [from a deputy],” the affidavit states. “He also bit [a deputy] multiple times, breaking the skin.”
Another deputy used chemical spray to subdue Vixama, who had unsuccessfully tried to grab the spray can. He was held on the ground until more deputies arrived, the affidavit states.
Vixama was charged with two counts of resisting an officer, aggravated battery on an officer, obstructing an officer, probation violations, and battery.
He was being held without bond Tuesday at the Broward County Main Jail
