The City of Tamarac is monitoring an Everglades wildfire that has burned about 180 acres and remains uncontained, according to city officials.
The Florida Forest Service is leading the response to the wildfire, which as of Monday had burned approximately 180 acres and was listed as 0% contained.
Earlier in the day, members of Tamarac Fire Rescue, including Fire Chief Johnathan Frasher and Battalion Chief Michael Wilton, responded to the trailhead near Atlantic Boulevard and the Sawgrass Expressway to assess conditions. The department also deployed a drone to provide an aerial view of the fire and monitor its progression.
City officials said there is no immediate threat to Tamarac at this time.
Residents are encouraged to monitor local news and official emergency information, follow Tamarac Fire Rescue on its social media channels for updates, and avoid sharing unverified information.
The city said it will continue working with local, county and state agencies and provide updates as conditions change.
