For teachers and employees to stand out as Caliber Award material, they must be exemplary leaders and educators worthy of a nomination from everyone in their school community.
The following educators in Broward County Public Schools in Tamarac schools were submitted as Teacher of the Year and Employee of the Year for the 2021 Caliber Awards.
Robbin Dobbins, a second-grade teacher at Challenger Elementary, is her school’s Teacher of the Year.
Stacy Rowe, a computer tech specialist, is Employee of the Year at Challenger.
Yolanda Rivers-Suarez, a science teacher, is Teacher of the Year at Millennium 6-12 Collegiate Academy.
Claudine Lawrence is Employee of the Year at Millennium and works at the school as a Teacher-ESE support facilitator.
Sheri Maini, a math coach at Tamarac Elementary, has been named Teacher of the Year.
Katherine Munoz, who works at Tamarac Elementary in the role of information management technologist, was named Employee of the Year.
The Teacher of the Year nominees submitted packets to the school principal, who then forwarded them on to their cadre district committee for review.
As part of the application process, Teacher of the Year nominees also submit a video documenting the way they teach; this will be reviewed no later than December 2 by a select committee, with one winner determined that month.
The employee of the Year nominees are eventually narrowed down to 15 people and interviewed by the same committee that determines the Teacher of the Year for Broward County Public Schools.
The teachers and employees chosen as best of the year at the three Tamarac schools are invited to attend the Caliber Awards ceremony in January or February at the Greater Fort Lauderdale/Broward County Convention Center.
