Tamarac Seniors Can Apply for Up to $250 in Financial Relief

Tamarac seniors facing financial hardship will have an opportunity to apply for assistance through the District 3 Senior Relief Program on Friday, Aug. 21.

Held in recognition of National Senior Citizens Day, the one-day program will provide eligible households with up to $250 in financial assistance while funding remains available. Tamarac District 3 Commissioner Krystal Patterson is hosting the event at the Kings Point Clubhouse, 7620 N. Nob Hill Road, from 1:45 to 5:30 p.m.

Applications will be accepted in person on a first-come, first-served basis. City officials warn that the application site could close before 5:30 p.m. if available program capacity is reached. Submitting an application does not guarantee approval or funding.

To qualify, applicants must be at least 55 years old, live within Tamarac’s District 3, and be experiencing a temporary financial hardship. Residents who received assistance through the 2025 District 3 Residential Assistance Program are not eligible. Assistance is limited to one award per household.

Funds may be requested for eligible expenses such as rent, mortgage payments, electric or water bills, prescription medications, medical expenses and other essential household needs.

Applicants should bring a completed program application, signed hardship declaration, IRS Form W-9, government-issued photo identification and documentation establishing District 3 residency. Printed forms will also be available at the event, and city staff will be on hand to assist applicants with completing the paperwork.

Residents are encouraged to complete the forms in advance to help speed up the application process.
